Should students be allowed to have a mobile phones at school?

I agree that mobile phones should be allowed at school because what if there is an emergency? Somone will need to dial triple 0.

Tell me your opinions about what you think about this?

  1. I think mobiles should be allowed at schools as there could be emergencies and plus majority of teenagers wouldnt leave them at home anyway. But most schools have a strict phone policy, like not using them in class or else they can be taken off you.

  2. I agree. In case of an emergency we should be able to have them on us as long as we aren't getting distracted during class.

  3. I reckon that mobile phones should be allowed to be used in school as these days mobile phones replace watches and are vital in times in emergencies. Also phones can be used as a way of contacting students in emergencies. If anything i believe that they should be encouraged.

  4. i think that mobile phones should be allowed at school incase your family or friends need to contact you for some sort of emergency but, we shouldnt distract others with them in classes.

  5. I also think that mobile phones should be allowed at school because as people have said, for a emergency, if we need to contact parents etc. I also think though that schools should have rules about using mobile phones, which most schools have. An example of a rule includes not using phones in class and if this rule is broken the teacher should have the right to take the phone of them.

  7. Also, im not just saying that we need mobile phones at school so I can bring mine - I practically never use mine, I only use it when needed. It would just be better if we could have our phones on us for those times of need, when we really dont have enough time to go up to the office to ask for the phone. Sparky out.

  8. Mobiles do need to be at school. It is the fastest way for families to contact their children in times of crisis or when students need to contact their parents to inform them that they forgot something for school. I believe that at school students should have their phones turned off in class, have no access to the internet or facebook and have no incriminating photos on them.

  9. "Back in myyyy day..." No seriously kids, without showing how old I really am [let's just say I graduated school in the late 90s], no one had a mobile phone at school. Some parents did, but as they were analogue, they simply made calls. No texting and no games! And guess what!? We survived. There were landlines around, and we made prior plans with others. Mobile phones have a false sense of security attached to them. You WOULD survive a week without your phone, you just have to adapt.

  10. Frankly, I don't even know where my phone is at the moment - that's how much i love the damn thing - but if we could have them at school i'd have it with me. Technology is moving forward and in case of an emergency, its your closest form of contact. Didn't we use one in the armed intruder drill? And yes, i know 99.99% of the time armed intruders don't drop by for a visit but what about that 0.01%?

you can never be too careful...
